Ricoh Printer Test Page

Ricoh keeps its built-in test under a menu called List Test Print, which is easy to walk past. Several SP models will also print one from a repeated power-key press, with no menu navigation at all.

Set scaling to 100%. Choose Actual Size in the print dialog, never Fit to page — scaling distorts every measurement on this sheet. The Download PDF button hands you that same sheet as a ready-made file, so there is no scaling decision to get wrong.

How to print the Ricoh Printer Test Page

  1. Load plain white paper and set quality to Best or High.
  2. Set scaling to Actual Size or 100%, then print this sheet.
  3. Print the configuration page from the table above and keep both together.
  4. Take status — toner, drum life, page counts, network settings — from the Ricoh report only.
  5. Judge density, registration and repeating marks on this sheet.
  6. Change one variable, reprint the same file, and compare against the first sheet rather than from memory.

Reading the result

Configuration page and this sheet both print cleanlyEngine, queue and supplies are healthy. Anything still wrong sits in the document or its driver settings.
Solids print pale or with vertical streaksToner is low or the drum is wearing. The configuration page gives the life figure; this sheet tells you whether the figure matches the image.
Fine lines break at small point sizesDensity is too low to hold a narrow stroke. Raise it one step and reprint until the lines hold, then stop rather than pushing density further.
A repeating mark runs down the pageMeasure the pitch against the drum and fuser circumferences. Ricoh names the responsible unit once a service fault is logged, but the pattern is what proves the fault exists.
The three-press shortcut does nothingThe machine is not in standby, or the presses were spread over more than about a second and a half. Let it settle to Ready, then tap the power key three times in quick succession.

Also check

  • Black and white page — Density and text sharpness without colour conversion standing between you and the print engine.
  • Alignment page — Registration and skew measured rather than guessed, which is what an office mono device most often gets wrong.
  • Gradient and banding page — The most sensitive reading for toner ramp smoothness, where a failing cartridge first becomes visible.

Related test pages

  • B&W printer test page — Removing colour from the equation isolates density, toner coverage and fine detail problems.
  • Alignment printer test page — If lines that should be straight come out crooked, or text looks doubled, the printhead is out of alignment. This sheet measures it.
  • Laser printer test page — Laser faults live in density, fusing and geometry, and none of them involve nozzles. This sheet measures how evenly toner is laid down and whether it stays on the paper.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print a configuration page on a Ricoh printer?

Press Menu, select List/Test Print, choose Config. Page and confirm. On the SP 4520DN and later the same item sits under User Tools, then Printer Features, then List / Test Print. On SP 150SU machines, press the power key three times within 1.5 seconds from standby.

What does the Ricoh configuration page show?

Settings, installed options, page counts, consumable status and network configuration. It answers how the machine is set up and how much life is left, not how good the printed image actually looks.

Is the colour demo page the same as a configuration page?

No. The colour demo page is a sample of colour capability and the configuration page is a settings listing. Both are reached from List/Test Print, and neither is drawn to expose banding or registration drift.

Where is Print Test Page for a Ricoh in Windows?

Devices and Printers, right-click the queue, choose Printer properties — not the plain Properties entry — then Print Test Page on the General tab. Web Image Monitor offers the same check from a browser once you know the device IP address.

Why does the configuration page look fine while my documents do not?

Because the report is generated inside the printer and never passes through the driver. Anything wrong only in documents lives in the driver, the application or the file itself, and printing this sheet through that driver isolates which one.
